About the Comic #
Post-Fable is a webcomic, written and drawn by Trigaroo, which features snapshots of a society at two stages of development as they endure and overcome a plethora of challenges and grow to better understand the world around them. The story mainly focuses on the main sentient species, Poseans, who are managed by an alien race, Elestians.

FAQ #
Is this comic related to your previous comic Salvation?
While it’s a good introduction to how the Post-Fable universe works (and perhaps spoilery about it :p) they should be considered separate universes.
How long does it take you to make a new page?
I’ve never properly measured but it seems to be about 12h-15h of total work (not counting breaks, etc) which is usually spent throughout a week (my record is making a page in 3 days). This also doesn’t take planning into account! it can vary a lot depending on the page.
What dreams you’ve had about this setting have or are going to get incorporated into the actual story?
The original dream that inspired the story was about me walking through a surreal looking city while a tall woman in a fancy dress and jewelry explained to me how that place was some sort of healing project, and showed me a little girl who was healing from some mysterious forgotten trauma. When asked about it, the girl would just cover her ears and scream.
Since then most of my dreams in the Post-fable setting have used elements that I already had planned but I think a few of them have affected stylistic choices and pushed me to draw things that are crazier and prettier! so it’s hard to quantify.
How long have you had the concept for Post-Fable?
I probably had the dream that inspired it in 2015, but I started truly planning and sketching things in a notebook on January of 2016, during a week in which our house was without electricity which gave me a lot of time to think about it 😀
First page came out in 2019 so that’s a few years of planning.
What are the main inspirations for the character designs of the Poseans / Guardians / Elestian?
The poseans’ designs vary from designs inspired by earth animals to ideas of alien animals, but they are all fluffy and cute to fit the harmless fabley world theme, the anatomy has probably been influenced by too many great furry artists to mention!
The guardians are mostly inspired by Eve from Wall-E and the minds from The Culture
Elestians are based on some doodles of aliens I did as a teen in school (but they didn’t have horns or long head originally, and they had a little bit of hair), plus the fanciness of the woman from the dream that inspired the story.
Perhaps subconsciously inspired by the voice trumpets from the Teletubbies which are elestian-like in function.
What was the main inspiration for the concept of Post-Fable? (Bubble society)
While the core of the concept was inspired by a dream, the idea of bubble societies has always fascinated me and I wouldn’t be able to pinpoint exactly why. Perhaps I like it for being an opportunity to wonder about the world from a fresh and more pure perspective, or maybe I just find the idea of a society being as small as your comfort zone intoxicating.
(I love making terrariums btw)
What are your goals for Post-Fable as a comic and what do you hope it brings to your audience?
I want to take the story to very different places and through beautiful scenery, but ultimately I think the message I want to tell is about working as a community to deal with the problems of existing in a world, listening to each other and caring about people despite their flaws, while trying to remain honest about how this isn’t easy and making the world a better place is not a trivial task.
Which character design was the most challenging?
Surprisingly it’s not Runia, haha. I think it’s Lopa, all of her markings and pointy tufts were hard to make consistent, and her face is a bit more human-shaped than most Poseans which makes any inaccuracy more visible.
How far ahead do you plan the story and how much gets skewed as things unfold?
The main, rough skeleton of the story was complete by the time I started the first page, but I decided not to plan every scene in detail in advance and leave room for the magic of improvisation and my own growth as a storyteller. A lot of detail has been added but very few big things have changed.
How challenging has the paneling of the comic been to keep fresh and interesting?
It’s always a challenge but I think it has become easier! Now I prefer doodling the contents of each panel before deciding their borders. It takes a lot of thinking outside the box, playing with lines and seeking inspiration. I even use windows xp’s paint to play with lines.
Are all the character designs done by you?
Yes! but I’m sure there’s a ton of subconscious inspiration and at least one name was made by AI.
Can I draw fanart of your characters?
Yes please, I’d love to see it :·) there’s a whole channel on the discord for fan art that gets semi-regularly uploaded to the booru on this site
What has been your biggest motivation for continuing the Post-Fable series?
There are many scenes that I’m eager to draw and now my soul rots when I spend too much time without drawing haha. Also I love seeing people engaging with the story in the comments and the discord! that has given me motivation to post pages faster. Plus I think I have things to tell, I don’t know how important they are or how original but I want them told.
Who has become your favorite background character?
Maybe the fox from page 29 :·3
How do you feel the general reception of Post-Fable has been?
It’s much better and bigger than I expected! when I started planning it I had very little digital art skills and was willing to settle with my pics getting 50 views or so. Also I love how the community that has formed around it is lovely, mature and smart.
What has been some of the biggest obstacles you have come across over the years of Post-Fable production?
Balancing drawing time to be able to post often while also drawing other things and going to university (which has forced me to develop some sweet time-saving techniques!).
Also trying to make good dialogue with english as my second language (thank you Nair for all the help ^^)
Do you plan on reaching larger audiences with Post-Fable in the future? (Outside of Furaffinity)
Yes! though I don’t have any plans to stop posting to furaffinity.
Do you have a Patreon?
Now I have a ko-fi and a patreon! for that and other links check https://trigaroo.carrd.co/ thank you if you donate :·) if not its ok
Can I leave “creepy” comments?
Yes, you can! (comment moderator’s note: just don’t be threatening or rude)
How do you draw so well? Do you post tutorials anywhere?
I’ve always tried to see what differentiates my art from pieces I look up to so I can change to draw more like that, and I try to be observant of things like anatomy and colors whenever I see things in the world or in art that I could improve at.
I also watch a lot of art tutorials, even of things that I already know! helps keep the knowledge fresh and weed out misconceptions.
I think I also learn a lot by fixing my sketches slowly and using references (so important), plus collecting pics to study. I often experiment, draw challenging perspectives/poses/lightings and doodle to find new ways to do things and I try to know the full potential of my drawing program of choice (mine is Krita).
Also lots of practice ^^
I have made a few tutorials, you can check some I have submitted in the tutorials channel of the discord server, or the following links 1 & 2:
But they are probably not fully up to date with what I know now :0
How long is the comic going to be? How long do you think it’ll take to make?
I plan to have it be around 13 chapters, with the first one being one of the longest. This might take mayber 15 years or more, but it’s about the journey not the destination =D
How do I contact you?
You can send me notes on Furaffinity (/user/Trigaroo) or find me in the Post-fable discord. I might take very long to reply in other places like twitter or email.
How do I get my fanart to be a part of the gallery?
Posting a link to your art either as a comment to one of the pages, or in the discord. We might just come across it naturally and add it that way too. If you’ve made fanart for the comic but don’t want it in the gallery just send me a message using one of the methods above and I’ll remove it.
I think the wiki missed something, how do I correct it?
The discord server has its own group for wiki management and you’re welcome to join and suggest additions/changes there.
